Surrounding Lompico are some of the best parks in all of Northern California. Whether you're looking for a park to go bike riding in, hiking, boating, camping or just picnicking, Lompico has it all.

Lompico has 2 parks located directly within its borders, Loch Lomond Lake Park and Lompico Park, as well as several others just minutes away: Quail Hollow Ranch, Henry Cowell State Park, Fall Creek State Park, Felton Covered Bridge Park and Ben Lomond Dam Park.

Ben Lomond Park is a historical creekside park that offers seasonal swimming, picnic and barbecues areas, a playground, basketball courts, a horseshoe pit, and nature areas. A dam is set up in the river during the summer for great local swimming.

Big Basin is California's oldest State Park, established in 1902. Home to the largest continuous stand of Ancient Coast Redwoods south of San Francisco, the park consists of over 18,000 acres of Old Growth and recovering Redwood Forest, with mixed conifer, oaks, chaparral, and riparian habitats. The park has over 80 miles of trails, so be sure and pick up a map at park headquarters before your hike and take a look at the multimedia kiosk in the Sempervirens Room (next to park headquarters). There you will find great information, photos, and video of some of the most popular trails.

Located along the crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Castle Rock State Park is a treasure of diversity and wilderness that is seldom seen next to a large metropolitan area. The parks 3,600 acres of semi-wilderness has spectacular views, rolling meadows and shady forests with waterfalls. The park's steep canyons are sprinkled with unusual rock formations that are popular with rock climbers. The park is crisscrossed by 32 miles of hiking and horseback riding trails and hosts picnic areas and primitive backpack campsites.

Fall Creek is the northern area of Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. One of the park's best kept secrets, it is 2,390 acres in size, and contains about 20 miles of hiking trails along old wagon and logging roads. Stop by the historic kiln and barrel mill for a real experience.

Felton Covered Bridge Park

The park's covered bridge is a California State Historical Landmark. This park offers volleyball, picnic areas with barbecues and a brand new playground. The covered bridge was once Felton's only road link with Santa Cruz. The bridge remained in use until the 1930s when a concrete span was built to carry Graham Hill road across the San Lorenzo River.

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park presents 15 miles of hiking and riding trails through 1,800 acres of forest that looks much the same as it did 200 years ago. Zayante Indians once lived in the area, where they found shelter, water and game. The park is the home of the Redwood Grove, with a self guided nature path, and Douglas fir, madrone, oak and the most unusual feature of the park, a stand of ponderosa pines. The park has a picnic area above the San Lorenzo River. Anglers fish for steelhead and salmon during the winter season. The park has a nature center and bookstore. The Redwood loop trail offers wheel chair access on a paved trail through the redwood giants, so even the those with limited mobility can enjoy a day in the trees.

This 26-acre park is complete with a playing field, group picnic areas, a play area, a tennis court, and a beautiful house. The house features hardwood floors, picture windows, a large kitchen and a private lawn. The house will accommodate groups of up to 200 for weddings, private parties, or meetings. Other amenities include two softball fields, one soccer field and two group picnic areas. Also on the park property is a senior center and the children's center of San Lorenzo Valley.

Loch Lomond Lake

Loch Lomond Lake is nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains in the heart of Lompico and comprises an 87-acre lake stocked with Rainbow Trout, Bluegills, Largemouth Bass and Channel Catfish. Twelve miles of trails wind their way across the woods and along two miles of lakeshore. One spectacular five mile loop goes along the lake to Deer Flat and to Highland Trail and up to the ridge where the view is worth every step. Fishing is always an option; just bring your pole. This 180 acres of recreation area offers picnic tables, a children's playground, nature center, interpretive walks with rangers and a lake side store where you can rent an electric or row boat, as well as pick up bait, tackle, fishing licenses, hot and cold drinks, and snacks.

Lompico Park is a neighborhood owned park that is available for all of the Lompico community to use. The park is centrally located at the center of Lompico and has a long history of bringing the community together. This park offers a basketball court, picnic areas with barbecues, a brand new playground and a restroom. Lompico creek runs down the center of the park and historically was dammed up every summer to create the areas best swimming hole. The Lompico bus stop is also located at the park.

This 300-acre regional and community park is home to several rare and endangered plants and animals, including the Ben Lomond Spineflower. There are numerous hiking trails, a historic ranch house, and a small pond at this park. The ranch house and outdoor picnic area are available for rent. It is a popular location for weddings.
